Network Solutions Review

6.3/ 10 - our editorial score

Network Solutions is the brand Newfold now funnels its legacy customers into, and it works as a one-stop domain-plus-hosting shop - but renewal pricing, SSL upsells and a dated platform make it hard to recommend over modern budget hosts.

  • Free domain for the first year on annual hosting plans
  • 24/7 phone and chat support with a large US support operation
  • Low first-year entry price at $2.99/mo

  • Dated platform with a proprietary panel instead of cPanel
  • Long history of aggressive upselling, including a 2015 FTC settlement over refund disclosures

Our Network Solutions review

Network Solutions is one of the oldest names on the internet: it operated the original .com registry and for years in the early 1990s was the only place you could register a domain. Today it belongs to Newfold Digital, and it has become the company's consolidation hub - Web.com was folded into it in June 2025, Register.com and Domain.com followed, and iPage customers were migrated across in February 2026.

That consolidation matters for buyers, because it means Network Solutions is no longer just a registrar with hosting bolted on. It is the storefront Newfold points millions of small-business customers at, covering domains, shared hosting, a website builder, email and SSL certificates from a single account dashboard.

The hosting itself is serviceable but dated. Plans run on a proprietary control panel rather than cPanel, published specs are modest (10 to 40 GB of storage), and there is no talk of NVMe, LiteSpeed or staging. For a brochure site attached to a domain you already manage here, it is fine; for anything performance-sensitive it is a generation behind.

Pricing follows the classic legacy-host pattern, only steeper. The $2.99 Starter intro renews at $8.83/mo, Premium goes from $6.99 to $18.75/mo, and the "free" SSL on mid and upper tiers is free for the first year only, after which it becomes a separate annual charge that can exceed the hosting itself. The Starter tier does not include SSL at all.

The company also carries baggage on billing transparency: in 2015 it settled FTC charges that its advertised 30-day money-back guarantee failed to disclose that up to 30 percent could be withheld on bundled packages. The current guarantee is a cleaner 30 days on hosting, but read the terms on anything bundled with a domain.

Choose Network Solutions if consolidating a long-held domain portfolio with basic hosting and phone support is worth a premium to you. If you are simply shopping for cheap shared hosting, nearly every other host in this guide gives you more for less.

Frequently asked questions

Is Network Solutions the same as Web.com?

Effectively yes. Newfold Digital retired the Web.com brand in June 2025 and moved its customers to Network Solutions. Domain.com, Register.com and iPage customers were consolidated into the same platform.

Does Network Solutions include free SSL?

Only on the Essential and Premium plans, and only for the first year. After that the certificate renews at full price, and the Starter plan does not include SSL at all.

Bottom line

Network Solutions is the brand Newfold now funnels its legacy customers into, and it works as a one-stop domain-plus-hosting shop - but renewal pricing, SSL upsells and a dated platform make it hard to recommend over modern budget hosts.
